Project Overview
This project was one of the most beneficial projects during my time in school. We learned how to work as a team as we were split into groups of 4-5 people for the majority of the semester. Each group brainstormed on unfulfilled user needs, and came up with useful, desirable, and feasible ideas for mobile applications. My group decided to create an event app that links with user's social accounts, allows them to customize their interests, and provides the ability set reminders for upcoming events.

Research
We began our research by carrying out a qualtrics survey to gage the need for our event app idea. After gathering this information, we defined our audience by creating 3-5 personas and scenarios of how they might use our mobile app. We also did competitor research to ensure our app offered more than what was already out there.

The Process
We brainstormed user tasks via a card-sorting technique and created user flows. We identified key screens on the user flow and developed wireframes. We created branding and UI guidelines, then applied them to all screens. We built low-fidelity prototypes to test scenarios and user flows. Then, we built high-fidelity prototypes while preparing tasks and scripts for usability tests.

The Tasks
1
Launch the app and create an account. Select music and recreation as preferences.
2
Scroll to find the Coldplay concert. Then read the first comment below.
3
Search for a color run within a 40 mile radius. Share the color run with your "Blank" friend Grayson.
4
Check the message notification in your profile. Then register for the Color Run.
5
Set an alarm on October 8th for the upcoming Color Run.
User Testing
We then conducted usability tests using tobii glasses and made revisions on the user interface based on our findings.
Problems
1
Some users struggled with adjusting the location. We addressed this issue by increasing the size of the buttons and allowing users the option to either tap or drag instead of just drag.
2
Users also struggled with completing the "share with a friend" task. Mostly because our written instruction was unclear. By rewriting this, the task was understood more clearly and was completed much more quickly.
3
We took note of several minor struggles and resolved them by refining the overall look. We adjusted colors, typography, and the hierarchy between all of these elements.
